"The Museum of Fine Arts Glassell School Outdoor Sketching Competition results are in, and the winners who will be receiving Scholarships were announced last Thursday. The students who won should be receiving a letter from the Glassell Junior School in the mail. These students worked very hard, and the Glassell Junior School staff, teachers, and deans were very impressed by our school's positive attitude and artistic talents!

Here are the students who won Scholarships last year, for 2007-08 school year, and will have theirs renewed for the upcoming school year, 2008-09.

“Harmony School of Innovation announces the graduation of its Fifth Grade Class on Friday, May 23, 2008 at 9:30AM in the school cafeteria. A parade of graduates around the school campus will take place before the ceremony. Refreshments will be served following the ceremony. Parents will also be able to purchase Cap and Gown photo packages of their student from LifeTouch on that day as well.

Due to limited space, we ask that only two adults per each fifth grade child attend the graduation. Also, younger siblings who attend H.S.I. will need to remain in their classrooms during the graduation. read more . . .

After the graduation the fifth grade class will take a field trip to Bounce U, an enclosed, air-conditioned moonwalk center. The cost for this field trip is $12.00. Students will bounce around in safe, clean air-filled structures, and then enjoy pizza for lunch. We will visit the Sugarland location at 10601 South Sam Houston Parkway, Suite 190, Sugarland, Texas. Parents who would like to chaperone this field trip only need to pay $5.00 each to cover the cost of their own pizza and soft drinks.

Please review the graduation packet for information about how your fifth-grader should dress for the ceremony and the field trip and how parents can help organize the event.

We want to wish our students well as they make the transition from the elementary to the middle-school level. Join us as we celebrate their successes as elementary students.

HSI students attended the Sethsa Spelling Bee this past Saturday, February 23rd and are so thrilled to say that we advanced to the Chronical Spelling Bee!! Zahrah Reid and Van Luong both made it to the 4th and 5th round before dropping out. They did wonderful! The competition was very challenging and these 4th and 5th grade students even went up against middle school students. Jessica Amores went on to the final round to win first place!! These students have been working very hard to prepare for this event with their coach. We are very proud of them. The Sethsa Spelling Bee is a local bee which qualifies us for the Chronical Bee. If we advance at this level, we move on to Washington D.C. Lets cross our fingers and wish Jessica the best of luck at the Chronicle Bee. Stay tuned for more updates on her Spelling Bee adventure!
